Food Diary Improves Weight Loss
A new study finds that recording what you eat can double your weight
loss. In the study published in the American Journal of Preventative
Medicine, Dr. Victor J. Stevens, a senior investigator at Kaiser
Permanente Center for Health Research, and his team followed almost 1,700
men and women who were either overweight or obese. Participants followed a
weight loss plan and were asked to record daily food intake and their
exercise minutes. The participants who kept food diaries actually lost
twice as much weight as the participants who did not keep food diaries.
Food diaries not only increased accountability but also helped
participants keep track of where extra calories were coming from and what
they should try to avoid or incorporate into their diets. |
